My idol and what I’d ask them
Neil Armstrong. I‘d ask him what it’s like on the moon.
What I’d do if I hadn’t become a professional footballer
I’d definitely have travelled around the world. In terms of jobs, I’d probably be with the police because that always interested me and it’s a very varied job.
Sports I like outside of football
Beach volleyball and tennis. I do it mostly in the summer, but unfortunately not regularly.
My favourite place to travel
Definitely Cape Verde to relax. You absolutely have to go snorkelling or diving there and a jet ski tour. Otherwise, Amman in Jordan, experience a different culture and see a lot there. Or surfing in Portugal.
My favourite food
Wraps with potato wedges.
My favourite book and why I’d recommend it
“Mamba Mentality” by Kobe Bryant. It’s very interesting and gives good insight into his career. Also “The Seven Sisters” series is very exciting and well written, transports you to other countries while reading - like being on holiday.
Strangest moment in football
My shirt ripped two minutes before going into the pitch in a game away at Potsdam and we didn’t have a spare.
First memory at Bayern
I walked out with Miroslav Klose when Bayern played against Karlsruhe.
How I calm back down after getting annoyed in a game
Call my parents.
Best football match
2014 Men’s World Cup final when Germany won it.
My pre-match ritual
I don't have rituals, but rather routines that I always repeat (e.g. eating pasta two hours before the match, listening to songs on the way to the bus). I deliberately don't have any rituals because I want to remain independent of the matchday and don't want to be thrown out of my rhythm by last-minute changes.
