After a good start to the league season, FC Bayern are now gearing up for the DFB Cup against thid-division side TSV Schott Mainz. The game will take place on Sunday, (Sep 28) at 11:00 local time at the Otto-Schott Stadium in Mainz.
FCB coach Thomas Wörle, who won the German Cup with the team back in 2012, is taking nothing for granted despite the mismatch on paper: "Mainz was the dominant side in the third division last year. They were ahead of the second-placed team by some distance. Then for some reason they couldn't make the jump to the 2. Bundesliga but they strengthened , and for them it will the game of the year. I expect an intense game against a highly-motivated Mainz."
Indeed, Bayern will have to be on guard to see this fixture through, as Wörle pointed out: "My team knows the special atmosphere of a knockout match and will go into the game with the right amount of respect and great concentration." FCB will still be without the long-term absentees Leonie Maier, Carina Wenninger, Sarah Romert and Lena Lotzen.
