The big match from round seven in the Allianz Bundesliga was between second and third-placed Bayern Munich and Turbine Potsdam. After a hard-fought match, Bayern earned a deserved win away to the Brandenburg side. Captain Melanie Behringer got the matchwinner after converting from the penalty spot (56.) which means that Bayern now move up to second in the standings right behind defending champions Wolfsburg.
Thomas Wörle fielded pretty much the same side that won big against Duisburg with only Vivianne Miedema starting instead of Eunice Beckmann. The consistency helped Bayern start the better of the two sides and were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty early on after a Potsdam player cleared a corner with her hand. A mistake in midfield by Bayern gave Potsdam a chance, however, with Anonma trying her luck from 38 yards out Then it was Bayern's turn again with Vanessa Bürki coming close from the left (31.) and from the right (33.) but neither shot hitting the target. Bayern controlled the game but lacked the efficiency in front of goal. It was 0:0 at halftime.
Potsdam had the first good chance of the second half after a long ball put Anonma free on goal but her volleyd shot went off target. After 56 minutes, Bayern finally turned their control into a lead. A handball in the box was called by the referee and captain Behringer calmly converted. Vivianne Miedema then had the chance to put the game beyond Potsdam soon after only to squander the chance. It soon cost Bayern also with former Bayern player Julia Simic (67.) and Nagasato (77.) coming close to the equalizer. But close is all they got. In the end Bayern hung on for the biggest three points of the season so far and a deserved move up to second in the standings.
Next Saturday Bayern welcome promoted SC Sand at the Grünwalder Stadion.
