The sun was shining bright in Gainesville on the first full day of FC Bayern's training camp. After a 14-hour flight on Wednesday and a well-deserved night's rest, preparations for the second half of the season are now fully underway at the famed University of Florida
Not only is the team preparing for what should be an intense second half to the Bundesliga season but also what should be two very competitive exhibition games during their stay in the US. The first of those will take place this Saturday, January 24 at 6:00pm EST against 'the Gators,' the University women's team. They will follow that up with a game against the U-20 US women's national team on Tuesday, January in Orlando.
Thomas Worle's team started the day with a morning training session and followed it up with another one in the late afternoon, a routine they will follow for the rest of the week to stay fit and fine-tune various aspects of their game.
All in all, the first day was a great success with the Florida weather living up to its reputation. Asked about her impression after day one, midfielder Sarah Romert couldn't agree more even though this is not her first time in the sunshine state, 'The conditions are just fantastic. I've been to Florida before, in Miami with the national team, and the sun being out like this always makes training a lot of fun.' If the first day was any indication, the team is in for a great week in the US.
