The FC Bayern women had a busy international break with a number of players on duty with their national teams at the SheBelieves Cup in the US, Cyprus Cup, and Olympics qualifiers.
After an exciting round of qualifiers, no more FC Bayern players will unfortunately participate at the Olympics in Rio. Sweden pulled through with a draw despite Vivianne Miedema's goal. In the second group game, Caroline Abbe's Switzerland got a 2-1 win against Nora Holstad's Norway. Elsewhere, Mana Iwabuchi had the matchwinner against North Korea. Sadly Japan had already missed out on qualification.
After two great results against France and England, Germany fell to defending World champions USA in the final of the SheBelieves Cup. After taking the lead in the first half, Alex Morgan and Mewis gave the US the lead in the span of six minutes and ran out winners in the end.
And the winner is....Austria! The team of Manuela Zinsberger, Viktoria Schnaderbeck, Carina Wenninger and Laura Feiersinger beat Poland 2-1 in the final and are now unbeaten in 17 games, a span lasting almost two years! Raffaella Manieri's Italy, meanwhile, beat the Czech Republic 3-1.
