SAP Garden Munich: Information about the FCBB venue

The SAP Garden is located in the north of the Olympic Park, directly on the Bundesstraße 2R. Parking is available in the Parkharfe multi-storey car park (3,500 spaces) in front of the sports arena, which can be reached either via Toni-Merkens-Weg or directly from the north via Bundesstraße 2R. Parking tickets can be booked online in advance or purchased on site.

We strongly recommend that you use public transport for your arrival and departure. The nearest underground station is 'Gern' on the U1 and U7 lines, which is about a 15-minute walk from the SAP Garden. The arena is also accessible by bus and tram. The closest stop to the arena is 'Olympiapark West', which is only a few hundred metres away and is served by the M20/M21 trams.

There are 600 free bicycle parking spaces at the stadium.

All visitors with public tickets enter the SAP Garden via entrances E1 / E3 / E7.

All visitors with VIP tickets enter the SAP Garden via entrances E10 & E2.

Bags over A4 size will not be taken into the stadium, nor will umbrellas. Small bags are allowed. Larger bags can be left outside the SAP Garden for a fee. Please refer to the stadium regulations for full details of bag regulations.

The SAP Garden is an independent, oval solitaire that blends naturally and respectfully into the world-famous Olympic Park ensemble. This impression is reinforced by the grass roof and the vertically structured facade. The facade is characterised by a vertical pilaster strip structure, modelled on the shape of ice hockey sticks. A total of 260 pilaster strips, ranging in length from 11.6 to 18.2 metres and weighing up to 1,000 kilograms, wrap around the SAP Garden. If all 260 pilasters were lined up, they would stretch from the SAP Garden to the Bavaria on Munich's Theresienwiese, a distance of over four kilometres.

The roof of SAP Garden covers a total area of 13,094 square metres. This is the equivalent of almost two football pitches. A 1,800 square metre roof terrace overlooking the Olympic Park is used as a smoking and lounge area during events. A double-row photovoltaic system with a total of 799 PV modules provides a self-sufficient power supply for one of the three additional underground ice rinks.

The area above the sunken ice rinks has been modelled as a green hill, echoing the existing topography of the Olympic Park and allowing the pathways and landscaping to continue.

A total of 3,500 parking spaces are available in the Olympic Stadium car park. There are also 600 bicycle parking spaces in the SAP Garden. In the belly of the multi-purpose sports arena, there is space for several TV broadcast vans, team buses and 224 cars.

The bowl (indoor area) is the centrepiece of the SAP Garden. It has a lot to offer spectators.

Innovative grandstand system: Optimal view for all spectators in the SAP Garden

Red Bull and ELAN have jointly developed the 'Dual Rise Single Frame' grandstand system, which provides all spectators with an optimal view of the pitch. The technology will be installed in Munich's new multi-functional sports arena, the SAP Garden, in Munich's Olympic Park. “Dual Rise Single Frame” will enable the stadium operator, Red Bull Stadion München GmbH, to flexibly adapt the playing surface and spectator stands for every type of sport. The SAP Garden will be the first sports venue in the world to use this system.

Video cube | Fasciaboard | TV screens

The video cube, which is installed at variable heights under the arena's ceiling, weighs a total of 16 tonnes and has a total projection area of 209 square metres. With over 41 million LEDs meticulously arranged across 456 panels, the cube provides the SAP Garden crowd with exceptional visual quality. Each of its four sides measures 9.5 x 5.5 metres and provides a continuous 360-degree projection.

The largest projection screen in a German arena is not only an eye-catcher from the outside. It is hollow and has a one metre high, playable inner ring. With a 16:11 format, a pixel pitch of 3.9 millimetres and a brightness of 3,500 candela per square metre (by comparison, a modern smart TV has a brightness of around 500 candela per square metre), the giant delivers razor-sharp images and is the bright centrepiece of the SAP Garden.

In addition to the video cube, there is a 263-metre-long fasciaboard in the main playing area. This state-of-the-art information platform uses animation, video, images and text to keep the SAP Garden crowd informed about the action on the pitch.

There are also almost 500 TV screens in the SAP Garden.
