FC Bayern Basketball assistant coach Oliver Kostic will join the Houston Rockets coaching staff ahead of the upcoming NBA Summer League. Head coach Dejan Radonjic’s assistant has already left for Houston to help the team prepare for the prestigious summer tournament, which will take place from 5th to 15th July in Las Vegas.
All 30 NBA teams as well as various international teams take part in the Summer League. The Rockets’ roster, overseen by assistant coach Matt Brase, currently includes German national team member Isaiah Hartenstein. The two-time NBA champions from Houston will play their first game of the tournament against the Dallas Mavericks on 6th July.
“We want to thank the Houston Rockets for giving one of our coaches this incredible opportunity,” said Bayern sporting director Daniele Baiesi. “It’s a big honour for our organization to have a close relationship with the Rockets—they are amongst the top organizations in the world.”
Kostic, 46, has been with FC Bayern Basketball since 2013. He has been part of the coaching staff since Dejan Rodonjic took over as head coach of the German champions just over a year ago. Previously, the Serbian was responsible for overseeing Bayern’s youth academy. Kostic was the coach of Bayern’s second division team prior to making the move to the pros.
