The FC Bayern Basketball eSports team is gearing up for two absolute season highlights. BAYERN BALLERS GAMING will make an appearance in front of a huge crowd this Thursday evening (23rd August) at the world’s biggest gaming exhibition – gamescom – in Cologne. A month later, following this “Road 2 Cologne – presented by Audi”, the team will then show face at the EGX gaming exhibition in Berlin (28th-30th September), by then playing the brand-new NBA2K19 game.
500,000 visitors are expected at gamescom in Cologne-Deutz (21st-25th September), Europe's leading exhibition for digital gaming culture, where Bayern Ballers Gaming will be hosting a Bavarian derby at 18:00-19:00 CEST. Bayern’s opponents for the virtual 5 vs 5 Basketball game are ratiopharm ulm eSports, the eSport team of Bundesliga rivals Ulm.

Around 75,000 eSport fans are expected at the gaming summit EGX in “Station Berlin” in Kreuzberg, Berlin where Bayern Ballers Gaming will make an appearance on the prominent Sony Stage. Bayern’s opponents there are likely to be a high-quality international team.
The Bayern Ballers Gaming project was started in April and achieved a huge promotion after the team was formed at the end of May: the eight-man team, coached by Swen Müller and Point Guard Marcel Stohl, shocked fans by reaching fifth place on the NBA 2K ProAM World Rankings list and thus claiming the title of Europe’s best team. Several games have been successfully launched as live events on the team’s official channel on the live platform Twitch and Facebook, most notably the Audi Dome eCup. This tournament alone, held in the Audi Dome in Munich, was the first Offline-Event for NBA 2K18 to be held outside of the USA and attracted around 50,000 viewers on the internet. For Audi, FC Bayern’s partners, supporting Bayern Ballers Gaming is their first venture in the rapidly growing world of eSports.
