Milan Macvan will again miss extended time

The Bayern basketball team and Milan Macvan in particular have suffered a setback: The power forward of the German champion suffered another serious knee injury and is out for several months. The 28-year-old captain of the Serbian national team had returned to training in recent weeks after fighting his way back from a cruciate ligament rupture at the end of January.

In a Bayern test game, Macvan received another unfortunate blow to his knee joint. "Like last time, I was hit from the side during the shot, which was very unfortunate. Fortunately, my family is with me because I can really use support now. It will be hard, but it is not impossible to come back and I will fight for it," said Macvan, who will have surgery in the coming days.

"We are all concerned and feel with Milan Macvan, who was so positive after his injury in January and really gave everything for his return," said Marko Pesic, Managing Director of Bayern. "He will also receive every possible support from us this time so that Maki can return to the court again."

Milan Mavcan had moved from Milan to Bavaria in the summer of 2017, and the first major injury of his career occurred in January 2018 when he won the EuroCup in St. Petersburg. Until then, he had scored an average of 10.9 points for the Munich team in the BBL. He recently completed his preparations for the new season with the double winner. This weekend the FCBB takes part in the preparation tournament in Bayreuth.
