At the end there was applause for all, for the film of course, for the Bavaria professionals Alex King and Maodo Lo present and for the supporters of this beautiful preview in CinemaxX: The Spanish success film, "WE ARE CHAMPIONS" (German premier: 20.9.) was shown in the cinema at the Isartor and the hall was almost fully booked with about 150 visitors. The FCBB invited the athletes of its ONE TEAM partner project from the Offene Behindertenarbeit München (OBA) to the exclusive special presentation, as well as children, families and volunteers from the Stiftung Ambulantes Kinderhospiz München (AKM), an outpatient children's hospice foundation in Munich. During the two-hour film, athletes and supporters of the German Special Olympics-Initiative were captivated by the charm and humour that the basketball film with the overriding theme of inclusion in and through sport unfolds.
Alex King and Maodo Lo, who are in the middle of difficult preseason preparation with their team, took part in the internal event on their day off - laughing loudly again and again while watching the involuntary but perfectly honest comedy.
"It was fun, and the film shows what sport can do in every situation," King said later amidst the hustle and bustle of the enthusiastic autograph and selfie hunters.
Maodo Lo was also impressed: "You can see how important cohesion is, and that no one should be excluded, no matter which group, because everyone is human."
FC Bayern Basketball would like to thank its official partner CinemaX for a special film afternoon and Concorde Film Verleih for their friendly support.
ONE TEAM is the CSR project of the EuroLeague. The clubs' programs aim to promote the integration of disadvantaged minorities into society through basketball. One Team is also a partner of the Special Olympics. The Bavarian ambassador is Alex King.
