
The new season in the EuroLeague begins for FC Bayern Basketball with a home game in the Audi Dome: The German champion will host the top team Armani Olimpia Milan on Thursday, October 3rd starting at 20:30 to kick off the season in the premier class. The Italians recently signed star coach Ettore Messina, who has won the highest European competition four times (Virtus Bologna, ZSKA Moscow) and most recently worked in the NBA as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs under Gregg Popovich. For the Bavarians, the difficult away game with the current champion ZSKA Moscow (October 10th) and the second home game against Asvel Villeurbanne from France (October 17th, 20:30) with president and owner Tony Parker will follow. "It's great that we're starting with a home game," said FCBB captain Danilo Barthel, "generally speaking, it's going to be another tough round in the EuroLeague."

The first duel with the German runner-up Alba Berlin in the EuroLeague, now expanded to 18 teams, will take place in December (18.12.). The German derby at the Audi Dome will take place on Tuesday, March 24th at 20:30. The highlight guest appearances of the title favourites are now also on the calendar: The royal ensemble of Real Madrid will present themselves on Wednesday, October 30th in the hall at Munich's Westpark; the immensely upgraded Spanish cup winner FC Barcelona with coach Svetislav Pesic on Friday, October 20th. In December, defending champion ZSKA with German international Johannes Voigtmann, on Friday, January 10th this year's finalist Efes Istanbul on Friday, February 21st - and the reunion with Derrick Williams and his team Fenerbahçe Istanbul will take place on Friday, March 20th (20:30).
In the first half of the season the Bavarians will have nine home games this time and eight in the second half. The first eight teams will move into the playoffs after the 34 main round games. So far, no German team has succeeded in doing so.
