The Bavarian basketball team has committed to another talented player. Young Italian international Diego Flaccadori is switching from Serie A to the German League after having played played for the Italian EuroCup participant Aquila Trento in recent years. In the second highest European competition, the left-hander scored an average of 10.3 points last season. Three times in a row (2016 to 2018) he was voted the best U22 player of the first Italian league. His contract with the FCBB is valid until 2021.
Player profile
"Diego is a promising young player who has decided to learn with enthusiasm from us in order to take the next step in his development," said Flaccadori's compatriot, FCBB Sports Director Daniele Baiesi. He continues: "He is a two-way player who can create on offense and defends hard on the other side. Leaving his home country and what I would call a comfort zone to take risks and seek opportunities is a courageous and responsible decision. We are looking forward to his spirit in Munich".
First assignments in the A-national team, three years in the EuroCup
Diego Flaccadori, who lives in Bergamo and has just returned from an intensive workout week with FCBB individual coach Emilio Kovacic, said: "I'm looking forward to an incredible experience at FC Bayern. Learning from players like Djedovic, Lo and Koponen will make me better, which is exactly why I wanted to leave Italy. I am a player who wants to help the team with fighting spirit and aggressiveness on defense and offense especially in the pick-and-roll to find the open shot. I know what everyone in this team is playing defense, and that's the only way I can get my chances step by step."
Despite his youth, Flaccadori is already an established first division player: He made his debut at 18 and played 187 games (7.2 ppg) in five professional years for two-time Italian runners-up Trento. In the past three seasons the Shooting Guard scored almost nine points per game. He also gained three years of international experience in the EuroCup (46 games, 6.8 ppg).
Flaccadori has played six games for the Squadra Azzurra so far, but is not a member of the Italian squad for the World Cup in China. In 2014 he averaged 16.1 points at the U18 European Championships (sixth place) and led Italy to win the Albert Schweitzer Tournament; at the U19 World Championships in 2017 (sixth place each) he averaged 17.6 points and at the U20 European Championships in 2016 (fifth place) 16.7 points.

Karim Jallow moves to Braunschweig long term
Karim Jallow, on the other hand, will be leaving Bavaria again: the 22-year-old wing player, who was loaned to Ludwigsburg last season, reached an agreement with the Bavarians during the summer break to terminate the still valid contract and signed a three-year contract with Löwen Braunschweig. The Munich-born player played 25 of 34 games for Ludwigsburg last season and averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds.
