The well experienced NBA center Greg Monroe will make its way to Europe to play for the current German champion in the upcoming season. After playing nine seasons in the best league in the world, this will be his first stint overseas. The 2.11m tall US American player – 7th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft – has 632 NBA games to his name, starting 417 times. On average the 29-year old lefty scored 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds in the league. His last team were the Philadelphia 76ers which he played for in the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

´I am very excited to join the FC Bayern Basketball club and to move to Munich as a city, as well as for Germany in general and of course the Euroleague´ Greg Monroe states. He is currently residing in his home town New Orleans, Louisiana. ´I know that Bayern won the national championship this past season and that the Euroleague is the best competition you can get outside the NBA. Next season, I want to contribute with experience and unselfish leadership to achieve our club´s goals. ´

´We are very proud´

FC Bayern Basketball Director of Sports Daniele Baiesi says: ´Greg is a very talented, intelligent Big Man who fits our system perfectly. I hope no one expects a Derrick-Williams-Story part 2 here because Greg is a very different player and plays a totally different position. Not just his basketball IQ is extraordinary but also his character will fit nicely to our club. His great talent and NBA experience will lift our team, club and basketball community in Munich. We are very happy that Greg will join us.´
