The FC Bayern Munich basketball team bids farewell to Maodo Lo: the 27-year-old guard is leaving Munich after two years and moving to his home town of Berlin. The national player won the German championship in 2019 with the FCBB and played a total of 66 BBL games for them averaging of 7.4 points. In the EuroLeague, Lo had 57 appearances with an average of 7.8 points and 3.6 assists. This season, he scored almost nine points per game in the Euroleague. In 2018/2019, he shot 51 percent from three.
"Some family circumstances"
"It was a very difficult decision for me, the time of reflection was really very difficult", said Mado Lo. "Because I felt incredibly comfortable in Munich and during this time I also built up special relationships that will last my whole life. The city is beautiful and the club is like one big family. But above all, I am incredibly grateful for the trust that the club and the management placed in me over the past two years. Despite all this, I think that next year in Berlin makes the most sense for me personally: In the midst of this crazy and uncertain time, combined with some family circumstances, it is worth a lot for a Berlin boy like me to be at home".
FCBB sports director Daniele Baiesi said: "Even if it doesn't exactly inspire us, Maodo's very personal decision deserves respect and understanding. We have spent two intensive years together with him and he has been a crucial part of our success. Maodo is a wonderful person who has matured a lot in Munich and he will always remain part of the Bayern family. We wish him and his family nothing but the very best. For our part, we are very confident about the further planning of the squad and strengthening of the team."
FC Bayern Basketball thanks Maodo Lo for his time in Munich and wishes him and his family all the best.
