The Bavarian basketball team won their test game against the Franconian BBL competitor from Bamberg 86-55 (41:28). At the premiere of the new home jerseys (red and white) and warm-up shirts ("Red against racism"), the FCBB did not let a lost first quarter (15-18) and the early absence of their head coach Andrea Trinchieri in the Audi Dome stop them. The Munich team's defense kept Brose below 30 points in both halves. On Saturday (19:00), the BG Göttingen will visit the Audi Dome for the last preparatory game.
Trinchieri, who was given two technicals, said: "We are developing slowly, but things are progressing. The referees were already BBL-ready and I was still in preparation. I probably should have paid more attention to what I can do better instead of worrying about their improvement - that's on me then".
JaJuan Johnson top scorer with 18 points
Bayern finished the first attacks without the right touch before Lucic scored to make it 4-4 and then hit a triple for the first lead (7-6/6.). Both teams struggled shooting besides Johnson who managed eight points (15-13/9.). Bamberg, however, scored six points to end the quarter it and took a 23-15 lead.
Radosevic's three brought the team to within three but Lucic's early third foul was frustrating for the team. There was plenty of proof that the defense, which had recently improved in the victory in Ulm, was not yet clicking. Reynolds attacked twice before Trinchieri was sent off after a very interesting no-call on Djedovic.
The coach then continued to watch in the office. Assistant Adriano Vertemati took over on the sideline and Wade Baldwin did so on the court and took a - 33-28 lead only three minutes after the coach's farewell (18th). The defense was now in place and aided in a 17-0 run.
The Munich machine did not falter any more, five minutes after the restart the finish was cleared up early - 52-31. Youngster Grant opened the last section with a clean three for a score of 61-40. Djedovic managed to do the same - 66:42, the highest lead so far (33rd). Over 74:48 (35.) the hosts approached the end of the game a bit uncofused but it didn't matter after the big lead.
"We have great potential, especially when we are all together on defense," said "JJ" after the game and also commented on the coach: "He motivates me, he pushes me hard, but I think everyone knows what the point is behind it all."
FCBB against Bamberg: Weiler-Babb 4/5 Assists, Baldwin 11/3 Assists, Bray 2, Reynolds 8/8 Rebounds, Lucic 10, Flaccadori 4, Djedovic 13, Amaize 6, Johnson 18, Sisko 2, Radosevic 5, Grant 3.
