Bayern sign talented guard Ognjen Jaramaz until 2024

The FC Bayern München basketball team can announce its first addition for the upcoming season: The Cup winner and EuroLeague quarterfinalist has signed young shooting guard Ognjen Jaramaz. The 25-year-old Serbian signed a long-term contract on Friday for three years until 2024. Jaramaz, selected 58th by the New York Knicks in the 2017 NBA Draft, is in his second foreign engagement after a half-season in the Spanish ABC for Burgos. He spent the past two seasons with his hometown club, Serbian EuroCup contenders Partizan Belgrade, where he was the 2020 Final MVP in the national cup win. Partizan coach at the time was Andrea Trinchieri.

"I am very happy and can't wait to be a part of FC Bayern Basketball," Jaramaz said. "I know what the goals and ambitions of this club are. This definitely gives me another extra motivation for the tasks in the EuroLeague and the BBL. Of course, I'm looking forward to working with Andrea Trinchieri again, with whom I have a lot of ties since our days together at Partizan. I'm convinced that we can achieve a lot as a team and bring the BBL title back to Munich."

FCBB sporting director Daniele Baiesi, who welcomed Jaramaz to Munich, said: "Ognjen has already shown his great talent and has already achieved a lot. Moreover, he has already played for Andrea, and very well. Now he is ready to take the next step with us. He represents our new course excellently and will be one of our pillars in the future. We are very happy to have him with us."

"Ogi" Jaramaz started playing basketball in his native Kruševac and later went through the youth program of the traditional club Partizan. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 with then Serbian first division club Smederevo (18.5 ppg). This was followed by four seasons with Belgrade Adriatic League representative Mega Basket, most recently scoring around eleven points per game. He was then drafted by the Knicks in 2017, for whom he played in the NBA Summer League.

Partizan's MVP of the 2020 Serbian Cup final.
It was current Bayern coach Trinchieri who brought Jaramaz from the Spanish ACB to Partizan and back to the Eastern European ABA in the spring of 2019. There, the agile guard played his part in the Belgrade club's outstanding EuroCup season (8.2 ppg; ABA: 10.4 ppg) in 2019/2020 until the Corona stoppage. In 2019 and 2020, he also celebrated the Cup victory with Partizan - the second time as the most valuable player in the final against archrival Red Star (19 points in 85-84). Last season, Jaramaz averaged 9.5 points in just over 22 minutes of action in the EuroCup and 12.7 points and 3.8 assists in the Adriatic League.

Ognjen Jaramaz participated in four European Championships with the strong Serbian youth national teams. He won the bronze medal with the U20 in 2014, averaging 10.7 points at that time. In 2015 (9.5 ppg) he earned gold by winning the final against Spain and with 19 Jaramaz points plus ten rebounds.
