The previous results of the three Russian EuroLeague teams will be cancelled and will therefore no longer be included in the standings. A corresponding majority decision was confirmed by the Shareholders Executive Board of the EuroLeague on Tuesday. The background is the war in Ukraine, which was also condemned by the EuroLeague clubs and for which a solution is unfortunately not foreseeable. Thus, the games of Zenit St. Petersburg, Unics Kazan and ZSKA Moscow played so far will be dropped from the standings.
For FC Bayern Basketball this means that on the one hand the respective road defeats against the three Russian teams are not counted, but also that the three actually still outstanding home games no longer will take place.
The FCBB is therefore in sixth place in the updated table before Tuesday night's away game in Athens with a 12-10 record (previously 12-13). However, Andrea Trinchieri's team still has five of the six remaining games of the regular season to play away from home.
The last home game of the regular season is therefore the important clash on Friday after next (1.4., 20:30/Audi Dome) with Serbian top team Red Star Belgrade. With a record of 11-13 they are a direct competitor in the fight for a playoff spot.
