The FC Bayern basketball team will end the Bundesliga regular season with a German classic: Alba Berlin will visit the Audi Dome on Tuesday evening, starting at 20:30. Both teams can approach the always appealing prestige duel without the much pressure. Bayern head coach Andrea Trinchieri's team is firmly in third place in the standings ahead of the 2022 playoffs starting on Friday at the Audi Dome, while Berlin will enter the quarterfinals from the pole position.
The first two home games of the best-of-five series against the sixth in the table are set: next Friday (13.5.) and Sunday (15.5.), both at 20:30 in the Audi Dome. The Munich team's opponent will not be known until Wednesday evening: If Ludwigsburg wins against Heidelberg, it will be against Chemnitz, otherwise the Swabians will be the opponent in the quarterfinal series.
Ludwigsburg or Chemnitz
The Berliners had a short break over the weekend after a corona outbreak at opponent Braunschweig, the game was canceled, so that the capital club can start the trip to the south well rested. Even though Alba won the regular season, the duel of the championship favorites will not be without its explosive nature. Bayern won each of the previous three games in the BBL and EuroLeague.
The Berliners will also want to keep the offensive machine running, which has been running well lately. They scored an average of 101 points in the past four games, winning by an average of 29 points. "For Berlin we have to prepare well, even though the game no longer has any effect on the standings," said Bayern center Leon Radosevic. "But you don't want to lose against Alba."
This is the 63rd time Bayern and Berlin have faced each other: 38 wins have gone to the FCBB's account, 23 times Berlin has won, and once there was a draw, which is unusual in basketball. The balance per competition: BBL (29-19), EuroLeague (5-0), EuroCup (1 win, 1 draw), Cup (3-4).
