The premiere of the "MagentaSport Cup" in the Audi Dome

Two weeks before the eagerly awaited season opener in the BBL against Ulm (Sept. 26) and the EuroLeague (Sept. 30 in Tel Aviv), the Bayern basketball players will test themselves at the highest level: At the premiere of the "MagentaSport Cup" in Munich's Audi Dome on the weekend of Sept. 11-12, EuroLeague rivals Red Star Belgrade and Panathinaikos Athens as well as the new Italian champions Virtus Bologna will participate alongside the hosts.

SCHEDULE

Games for this preseason highlight are scheduled for 15:00 and 18:00 on Saturday and Sunday respectively;  In the semifinal, the German Cup winner will first face Bologna (Sept. 11, 18:00). All games will be broadcast live and free of charge on MagentaSport, and are thus available as a MagentaTV offer and via the MagentaSport-Platform. Spectator capacity for the Audi Dome is still being clarified with the relevant authorities - information to follow.

Ambitious Bologna around Teodosic and two EuroLeague teams with familiar faces

One thing is guaranteed: The MagentaSport Cup will feature numerous exciting duels and reunions shortly before the 2021/2022 season. Virtus, the first opponent of FCBB head coach Andrea Trinchieri's team on Saturday evening, recently signed Sergio Scariolo, the successful coach of the Spanish national team for many years. Trinchieri's compatriot also most recently spent three years as assistant coach at NBA club Toronto Raptors. The northern Italian's great ambitions were also recently evidenced by the contract extension with Serbian star Milos Teodosic and the addition of former Final Four MVP Ekpe Udoh (with Fenerbahce in 2017).

Greek champions Panathinaikos, Red Star's opponents on Saturday (15:00), have also hired a new coach in Dimitris Priftis. The Greek led Unics Kasan to the EuroCup final last season and thus back into the EuroLeague.

All games on September 11/12 are live and free of charge on MagentaSport

Semifinal opponents Belgrade also feature a familiar face, as former Munich champion coach Dejan Radonjic took over the traditional Serbian club last season and ultimately celebrated the Adriatic League title. The most spectacular acquisition of "Crvena Zvezda" is the homecoming of Serbian winger and former EuroLeague winner Nikola Kalinic (from Valencia).

MagentaSport: The four games will be broadcast on MagentaTV and will also be available free-to-air on the platforms of MagentaSport, the high-quality sports program of FCBB's principal partner Telekom. In addition, MagentaSport will also broadcast all BBL, BBL Cup and EuroLeague games live in the coming season. MagentaSport with its extensive basketball offering can be seen via MagentaTV as well as on magentasport.de on the web or via the MagentaSport apps. More info:
