The Bayern Basketball team won its third test game during its training camp in Bruneck: Head coach Andrea Trinchieri's team won 89-66 against the Italian second division team Scaligera Basket Verona in Bolzano. After 133 days, Bayern guard Nick Weiler-Babb made his comeback on the court after injuring his foot in the first EuroLeague playoff game against Milan in April. There was a reunion with youngster Sasha Grant, who is on loan to Verona for one season.
In a very intense duel in the tight Pala Mazzali, three threes by Andi Obst in particular ensured the lead after the first quarter (21-14). The physical as well as fighting Italians had to accept a 22-12 run of the FCBB who took a 43-26 lead in the second quarter (17th). The Munich team also won the third quarter (21-15) and final quarter (20-17).
The squad this time included the two youngsters Martin Kalu,16, and Mohamed Sillah,19, from Bayern's ProB team. Vladimir Lucic, Augustine Rubit, Darrun Hilliard, Othello Hunter, Nihad Djedovic, Marvin Ogunsipe, Leon Radosevic and Paul Zipser were resting or missing.
