While planning the squad for Bayern Basketball is progressing behind the scenes and the players are still enjoying their vacations, plans for the season are largely in place: new head coach Pablo Laso will assemble his team for the first official practice on August 28, although the national players will still be absent due to the World Cup (Aug. 25 - Sept. 10). A first, non-public test game has also already been scheduled, for September 2 in Munich against French first division club SIG Strasbourg.
Exhibition games in Athens
Bayern fans will then be able to get a first impression of the newly formed team at a preparatory tournament, which will be played on the weekend of September 16/17 with likely three other EuroLeague teams in the hall at Munich's Westpark. Before that, the FCBB will take part in a tournament in Malaga, where they will face the Spanish Cup winners with former Bayern captain Nihad Djedovic as well as Pablo Laso's long-time team, EuroLeague champions Real Madrid.
The German Cup winners will complete their dress rehearsals for the start of the Bundesliga at the end of September at the 5th "Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament" in Athens.
