Andi Obst extends with FC Bayern until 2026

Ahead of the decisive phase of the season, the Bayern Basketball team has announced some good news following its Cup victory: National player Andreas Obst has extended his contract with the Munich team ahead of schedule, with the 26-year-old three-point specialist signing a long-term deal for no less than three more seasons until the summer of 2026. The shooting guard has been playing basketball for FC Bayern since 2021 and has developed into a key performer for the five-time German champions.

I'm delighted to be able to wear the FC Bayern jersey for the next three years, which makes me very proud. I'm honored by the trust the club has placed in me. I've been incredibly well received here right from the start and immediately felt at home. That goes for everyone - the team, the staff, the coaches, and even the office.

Andreas Obst also played a key role in the German national team winning the bronze medal at the 2022 European Championship, averaging 11.6 points and hitting the most threes of any player in the tournament. At Bayern, he has been the deputy of captain Vladimir Lucic.

"His commitment is extraordinary"

"Andi is a cornerstone of our present and at the same time of our future," says sport director Daniele Baiesi about the good news. "He has shown incredible character in the constant development of his game. His will and commitment to constantly improve are exceptional, as is his commitment to our club. We are extremely happy and proud to have him with us in Munich for the next three years."

"I feel super comfortable here"

And this is was Andi Obst's had to say: "I'm delighted to be able to wear the FC Bayern jersey for the next three years, which makes me very proud. I am honored by the trust the club has placed in me. I've been incredibly well received here right from the start and immediately felt at home. That goes for everyone, the team, the staff, the coaches, even the office. Over time, we have become very, very close and I feel very comfortable here. That's why it was clear to me to extend my contract, because I identify with the club and the office - I honestly feel really safe and in good hands here, and together we have a lot of fun. I was also able to take my next steps athletically and establish myself in the EuroLeague. I want to achieve maximum success with the club, winning the Cup was super cool and we all want to build on that and continue to make a name for ourselves in the EuroLeague. I'm incredibly excited and motivated."

First title at the Top4

Andreas Obst, a native of Halle, Germany, made his debut for Bayern in the EuroLeague last season. In the five-part playoff series against FC Barcelona, he had a three-point percentage of just under 42 percent. In the current season, his playing time has once again increased significantly, as has his added efficiency on defense. With an average of nine points, he is one of the top offensive options in Coach Trinchieri's balanced team.

This also applies to the BBL (9.6 ppg), despite a good two-month injury break due to a torn ligament in his elbow. Obst returned in time for the TOP4 in Oldenburg in mid-February and celebrated his first title by winning the 2023 Cup.

Obst has played 52 games so far and was also involved in Germany's successful Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2021 (12pts).
