On Sunday in Crailsheim, "Sport1" will broadcast the game free of charge as the Bayern basketball team. The playoffs are on the horizon (May 16th) and the third-placed Munich team will receive the sixth seed, presumably one of the current playoff contenders in fifth to seventh place, Goettingen (16-12), Ludwigsburg (16-13) and Ulm (15-14).
Bayern, (23-6) led by head coach Andrea Trinchieri will continue to fine-tune their playoff aspirations in the final five games of the regular season. They continue on Sunday in Crailsheim, which itself is under a different kind of pressure pressure: The FCBB's 2021 playoff opponent (3-1 for Bayern) is currently just two wins away from the first relegation spot with a 10-19 record.
Top defense in the league
Bayern's next home game at the Audi Dome is on Wednesday (26.4.) when they host this year's promoted team, Rostock, who are still fighting to reach the playoffs (14-15).
Vs Crailsheim Trinchieri will want to continue testing the offensive mechanisms while the defense is already the most effective in the league allowing only a 42.8 percent field goal percentage.
The Merlins recently suffered a tough loss against Wurzburg
Last week, the Merlins around Serbian Nikola Markovic, who was promoted from assistant to head coach, squandered the eleventh win of the season at home against Wurzburg (87-86) despite a 21-point lead. Offensively, Crailsheim has options (85.9 ppg), led by Finnish guard, Edon Maxhuni (12.5 ppg, 3.8 apg), forward Jaren Lewis (11.3) and three-point specialist, Maurice Stuckey (10.3).
The new top scorer, however, is U.S. guard James Batemon, who joined late in January and is averaging 15 points per game in 13 appearances so far.
