Key player Augustine Rubit also remains in Munich

FC Bayern's basketball will be expecting Augustine Rubit back at the Audi Dome after the holidays: The 32-year-old power forward, one of Munich's most consistent performers in the past season, has extended his contract by another year until summer 2023. The U.S. professional was a fixture in Bayern's frontcourt and, like colleague Othello Hunter, is entering his second season with the FCBB.

Productive and two-way talented

Augustine Rubit, who returned to the BBL a year ago, was always one of Bayern's top scorers last season: the talented Texan reliably scored in double figures in both the EuroLeague (10.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg) and the Bundesliga (10.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg) - his point average from the 36 EuroLeague games is a personal high for him in his fourth year in the premier league. In the BBL only long-range specialist Andreas Obst (42.6%) was better from deep than power forward Rubit (41.4%).

"I'm looking forward to playing in front of our fans and for this club again."

"Germany and especially Munich are a special place for my family and me and we are very happy to return for another year," said Rubit, whose third child was born in Munich. "Our last season was good, but I really hope and am also confident that the upcoming one will be even better. I'm looking forward to playing in front of our fans and for this club again."

Sports director Daniele Baiesi calls Rubit "without a doubt one of the surprises of the last EuroLeague season" and added: "Augustine was very productive for us on offense and one of our key players on defense with his two-dimensional game. He also gave us versatility and physicality on defense. Keeping him is a step towards that continuity we are looking for next season."
