
The summer break is over, the preseason of the Bayern basketball team begins: This Saturday, a well-rested head coach Andrea Trinchieri gathers his team for the first team training. Naturally, the staff is not complete so shortly before the start of the European Basketball Championship (starting 1.9. Andreas Obst and Nick Weiler-Babb will arrive in Munich on Friday after the important 67-50 away win with the German team in the World Cup qualifier in Sweden - but their next job is the second World Cup qualifier this week, the "double" home game on Sunday in the familiar Audi Dome against Slovenia with NBA superstar Luka Doncic (28.8, 15:00).
Without Obst, Babb, Lucic, Jaramaz, Bonga und Kalu
The rest of the Bayern squad on the other hand, have completed their medical tests this week and will now start preparing for the regular season this weekend. In addition to Obst and Weiler-Babb, Serbian European Championship internationals Vladimir Lucic and Ognjen Jaramaz are absent, along with injured addition Isaac Bonga (rehabbing after foot surgery) and youngster Martin Kalu (torn ligament in foot at U18 European Championship). The other new signings Elias Harris, Freddie Gillespie, Niklas Wimberg and Cassius Winston are ready to get started along with Corey Walden, who had to take such a long break last season.

Three youngsters and three guest players
In order to be able to accurately compensate for the absence of the European Championship players and those who are still injured at the preparation camp in the FCBB partner region Bruneck (31.8 - 4.9.) three guest players will join the first phase of preparation in addition to the three Bayern youngsters Mohamed Sillah, 20, Christian Skladanowski, 18, and Luis Wulff, 18: The still contractless professionals Dragan Milosavljevic (SRB/last Fuenlabrada), Nikola Rebic (SRB/Weißenfels) and Justas Tamulis (LTU/Sibiu, ROM) will provide additional legs in training and can in turn get fit for their respective next clubs.
The new season begins for the Bavarians just 13 days after the Berlin European Championship final (September 18) with a Bundesliga home game on October 1 against southern rivals Ulm. The start of the EuroLeague follows shortly thereafter against Fenerbahce Istanbul (Oct. 6), FC Barcelona (Oct. 18) and Olimpia Milan (Oct. 20, both at the Audi Dome). In October alone, the FCBB will play eleven competitive games.
