After the play-in tournament for the last two playoff spots, the Bayern basketball team knows they will face Ludwigsburg in the quarterfinals starting Saturday (May 18, 8:30 PM/BMW Park). The Swabians lost their battle for seventh place on Tuesday evening with a significant 69:90 (25:51) defeat in Bonn but secured their second playoff chance at home against Hamburg on Thursday with a 91:78 (45:35) victory.

The Hanseatics won their first duel in Oldenburg 93:81 (48:47), eliminating the hosts. Against both teams, Bayern remained undefeated in the regular season: Ludwigsburg was defeated 92:84 at home and 85:80 away last week, while Bayern won against Hamburg 90:79 at BMW Park and narrowly 81:80 in March.
“Ludwigsburg might be better for us, it’s closer,” said national player Andi Obst at the playoff press conference on Wednesday, “but ultimately the focus must be fully on us – we need to be mentally prepared, no matter who we face.”
Format & Schedule of the BBL Playoffs 2024
The BBL Playoffs 2024 will once again be conducted in the 2-2-1 format (best-of-five): The team with home-court advantage plays the first two games at home, followed by two away games (or just one). For a decisive Game 5, home-court advantage reverts to the better-placed team.
Specifically: The first quarterfinal of FC Bayern Basketball will take place next Saturday starting at 8:30 PM, the second match on Whit Monday (May 20, both at BMW Park) at 5 PM. A fifth game would be held in Munich on Sunday, May 26. The semifinals begin on May 28/29.
