Pablo Laso completes his crew

FC Bayern Basketball has completed their coaching staff around head coach Pablo Laso. Joining the team as assistant coach is Ignacio Juan, a 26-year-old who has held this position for the past four years at the Spanish first division club, Saragossa.

Juan, originally from Saragossa, initially worked as a youth coach for the prestigious ACB club, and most recently as a coach for the U16 team and as an individual coach and scout for the professionals.

Remaining from the previous coaching team of FCBB are Djordje Adzic and Demond Greene, individual coach Emilio Kovacic, and athletic trainer Ivan Pijanec.

In the medical department, Alejandro Perez (formerly with Oldenburg) and Frank Moreno are new additions as physiotherapists. Johannes Schöttl has left the team, and FCBB wishes him all the best for his future endeavors.

Coach Laso is already looking forward to working with his new crew, saying, "Being part of Bayern Munich means being ready to give your best at all times. The staff and coaches are a family that will help our team be as good as possible and achieve our goals. I am confident that everyone will give everything because we have great professionals in every position."

Muki Mutapcic as Sports Director and ProB Coach

A familiar face will now be in charge of the ambitious youth program at FCBB: Emir "Muki" Mutapcic, former championship-winning coach in Berlin, national team coach, and long-time assistant coach at Bayern, returns to the Westpark three years after his departure in 2020 as the Sports Director of the youth program.

The 63-year-old German-Bosnian, once a successful professional player and national team member himself, recently coached the Hungarian first division team Zalakeramia KK.

"Muki is a familiar face returning to Munich. He has many tasks ahead of him, and he is eager to tackle them. We are very happy that he has decided to lead this new phase of our program," said FCBB Sports Director Daniele Baiesi.

Mutapcic is regarded as an accomplished talent developer. The successes of the Berlin talent factory, Lichterfelde, in the 90s are closely associated with his name, as well as several title wins with Alba at the beginning of the 2000s. In Munich, he later served as an assistant to Svetislav Pesic during their first BBL championship in 2014. Additionally, he has been a national coach for his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the German U20 team, and briefly for the senior national team of the German Basketball Federation (DBB) from 2014 to 2015.

At FCBB, Mutapcic will not only be involved in structural work but will also coach the young second team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB South. Their previous coach, Mihajlo Mitic, will now serve as a scout for the senior team under Pablo Laso.
