The world champion thought it was "cool and easy" — and the audience probably felt the same way: Niels Giffey of FC Bayern Basketball became the first player in German professional team sports to wear a mini camera on his upper body during an official match. This happened during the reigning champion’s home game on Sunday in a sold-out BMW Park against Braunschweig (94:72).
The device used was the "Mindfly" bodycam — an AI-assisted, ultra-lightweight camera integrated into the jersey. "You basically don't feel it at all, it doesn't hinder you in any way," explained the 33-year-old forward afterward.

The goal of the premiere was to bring the dynamic action closer to the audience through the video and audio captured — especially from the player’s perspective and featuring the innovative LED video court at BMW Park. Prior to the game, Bayern had obtained approval from the easyCredit BBL and the visiting team from Braunschweig.
Mini cameras are regularly used during FC Bayern Basketball training sessions to generate engaging content for the club’s own social media channels. There have already been EuroLeague games featuring Bayern players wearing bodycams. Now, for the first time, these unique images and perspectives are also available from an intense Bundesliga matchup.
