Weidemann and Wimberg with New Clubs

FC Bayern Basketball records two more departures: Nelson Weidemann and Niklas Wimberg are leaving the German champions, as their contracts have expired.

Wimberg is joining the EuroCup team Hamburg. The 28-year-old power forward wore Bayern’s jersey for two years: 66 times in the easyCredit BBL plus five cup games, and 33 times in the EuroLeague. The best performance of the former national player, who recently fought his way back into the team multiple times after injuries, was eleven points in the 77:53 home win over eventual finalist Berlin at the beginning of May last season.

Weidemann, 25, developed into a Bundesliga professional between 2016 and 2019 in Bayern's youth program. After several stints on loan, he returned to the BMW Park a year ago, coming from Chemnitz. National coach Gordon Herbert called him up to the DBB team for the first time in 2023. After 23 BBL appearances last season (one cup game, six EuroLeague), the guard is now moving to Ulm, which is also competing in the EuroCup.

FC Bayern Basketball thanks Niklas and Nelson for their efforts, wishes them all the best for their future – and looks forward to seeing them again in the upcoming 2024/2025 BBL season.
