Weiler-Babb stays with Bayern for two more years

Another key player remains on board: Nick Weiler-Babb will continue to play for Bayern Basketball. The 28-year-old German-American signed his next contract extension with Munich over the weekend, extending his stay until 2026. This means the guard, currently in the final phase of Olympic preparation with the German national team, will be entering his fifth and sixth seasons with FCBB.

"I am super happy to return to Munich," Weiler-Babb said at the DBB quarters in Hamburg. "Munich has become like a second home to me, and I hope we can carry the momentum from our double victory into the next season."

FCBB CEO Marko Pesic said: "As always with players of Nick's quality, it was not easy, which makes us all the happier that he has once again chosen to continue his journey with us in Munich. Like Vlado Lucic or Andi Obst, Nick has become one of the faces of our team, and I think both sides know what they have in each other. How Nick fought his way back from a challenging injury to be available for the playoffs, all the way to the finals, was impressive. We are very pleased to be able to count on him in the coming years."

An All-Rounder Ready to Step Up

Nick Weiler-Babb has been wearing the FC Bayern Basketball jersey since the summer of 2020. Together, they have celebrated three cup victories and, in 2024, also the championship. The native American has held a German passport for two years and won bronze at the European Championship in 2022 with the German national team, known for his strong defensive skills.

Last season, the all-rounder once again impressively demonstrated his versatility. In the absence of injured playmakers, he effectively took over the point guard position multiple times. His three-point shooting percentage of around 42% (6.7 points per game in the playoffs) and consistently effective defense were crucial components in the journey to winning the regular season and eventually the championship. In the EuroLeague, the father of one played all 34 games, averaging 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

FC Bayern Basketball looks forward to seeing him again in mid-August and wishes him the best of luck in his upcoming national team appearances.
