FC Bayern Basketball expands its partnership with KINEXON Sports, the market leader in basketball performance tracking & analytics, to include AI-based analysis software. Starting from the 2024/25 season, the German champions will use the new innovation KINEXON COMPETE Vision. The software will automatically count and analyze all shots during training using state-of-the-art computer vision technology.
Since 2018, the FCBB coaching teams have been relying on KINEXON LPS and KINEXON IMU for recording and analyzing performance and stress data. With KINEXON COMPETE Vision, the reigning champions in the BBL and the German cup now closes an important data gap: For the first time, the shooting performance of all athletes is recorded seamlessly and in the context of the practice load.
Coaches Receive Detailed Statistics on All Shots
The software calculates context-related shooting statistics by automatically evaluating video recordings of practice sessions with AI algorithms. The system counts not only successful and unsuccessful shooting attempts of each player but also calculates shooting rates and exclusive performance data such as “Shot Load”.
Shot Load is an exclusive metric from KINEXON Sports that calculates the accumulated acceleration load of the player in the ten seconds before the shot and categorizes the stress of the shot as “low”, “medium” or “high”.
KINEXON COMPETE Vision counts all shots in practice sessions and provides high-quality shooting data—without the need for wearables. This helps coaches make better game decisions based on robust, contextualized practice data. Additionally, it is the only system that can even recognize multiple balls simultaneously to capture the entire practice session.

KINEXON COMPETE Vision is an innovative basketball analysis software that analyzes video recordings of training sessions. It is compatible with existing solutions for automatic video recording of training sessions but can also be used on the move with a small, portable camera if required.
