Bayern signs Isiaha Mike

The squad of the German champions for the new season is taking further shape: power forward Isiaha Mike is moving to Bayern Basketball. The 27-year-old Canadian international strengthens the Munich team after one season with EuroLeague rival Partizan Belgrade. After two outstanding years in France, the 2.03-meter-tall model athlete did not really get going with the Serbian champions—partly due to an injury at the start of the season—and now wants to showcase his qualities with Bayern again at the highest European level. His contract runs until 2027.

“Moving to Munich is a logical step, because after talking with Coach Gordie it was clear that I bring exactly the skill set that is needed there,” says Mike, who is currently playing with Canada at the AmeriCup in Nicaragua and waiting for his quarterfinal opponent. “After an injury, I was sidelined at the start of last season, and things never went as planned afterward. I could never really be myself: an all-rounder who can shoot and make decisions on his own, who can play both the four and the three, defend in multiple positions on defense, and—above all—bring a lot of energy to the court.”

An energetic all-rounder eager to prove himself

This versatility is also emphasized by FCBB sporting director Dragan Tarlac, who says:“Isiaha gives our frontcourt great quality and depth. His ability to play multiple positions simply gives us more options on both ends of the floor. And once again, he’s a player whose talent we are absolutely convinced of and who wants to prove himself in Munich. The hunger that Isiaha has—along with our established core and the other new guys like Rokas, Xavier, Kamar, Wenyen, Justinian, and Leon—will shape our new team. That’s why we’re extremely happy that this transfer worked out and that he’s now with us.”

From 2022 to 2024, Isiaha Mike played a key role in the rapid rise of the French EuroCup team Bourg-en-Bresse. In his first year, he raised his season average (11.8 ppg) to 20 points per game (67% FG) in the French LNB Pro A playoffs for the small-town semifinalists from the Jura region. In 2024, reaching the EuroCup final was the highlight for JL Bourg (against eventual winner Paris) – and Mike was selected to the Top 5 of Europe’s second-highest competition after averaging 12.8 points (36% from three) and 4.2 rebounds. In the domestic league, Bourg finished fifth, with Mike averaging 14.4 points per game in the playoffs, which also earned him a spot on the First Team.

Experience in the EuroLeague and BBL

Partizan brought in the Canadian international (first appearances in February 2025) for Europe’s top competition, but the agreement from the previous year has now been dissolved. In the EuroLeague (3.9 ppg in just over 15 minutes per game), Mike was only able to join the action at the end of October. In Partizan’s championship run in the Adriatic League, he made a total of 33 appearances (6 ppg).

The Bundesliga will also not be new territory for Mike: after four years in college (Duquesne and Southern Methodist University: 12.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg), he began his professional career in 2020 with Chemnitz. Even then, he proved himself as a crunch-time specialist—after averaging 10.9 points (and 4.1 rebounds) per game in the regular season, he raised his numbers to 16 points in three playoff games in his second season. Incidentally, that was against Bayern, although Munich prevailed 3–0.

This summer, Team Canada nominated Mike for the FIBA AmeriCup for the first time, which runs until August 31. While he hopes for a title with the national team (“That’s the plan!”), his vision for the new season is this:
“The coach has a lot of expertise, and the players follow him and his system. We’re going to play well together—with the guys already here and the new signings, I’m sure of it. In the BBL we will be the team to beat—and in the EuroLeague, we’ll be a challenger.”

Isiaha Mike is married and the father of two children.
