After a two-week recovery period, Gordon Herbert has resumed his duties at the FCBB office in BMW Park. The team will reconvene there on Sunday for individual sessions, before full team training kicks off on Monday in preparation for next week’s double-header: away at Partizan Belgrade (Thursday) and in Weißenfels on Sunday. The Canadian head coach had missed the home game against Barcelona (Nov. 12) at short notice due to illness and needed time to recover.
Parker Returns to Lyon, Oppenheimer Joins Coaching Staff
Herbert’s stand-in for the past six games, TJ Parker, is leaving Bayern. The Frenchman had previously requested the termination of his contract—which had only been extended for two more years this summer—for personal reasons. In early October, Parker’s father passed away unexpectedly; he now returns to his family in his home region of Lyon, where his mother also lives.
Joining the coaching staff this weekend is Josh Oppenheimer. The 56-year-old American, whose arrival was originally planned for the start of the season but was delayed for personal reasons, will primarily serve as Player Development Coach for Bayern.

Brooklyn Days with Dinwiddie
A California native, Oppenheimer has spent the past 15 years as an assistant coach in both the NBA and NCAA, most recently at the University of Oklahoma and before that, four seasons with Milwaukee (also 2013–2016). With the Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Oppenheimer celebrated the NBA title in 2021. In 2022, he was part of Greece’s coaching staff at the EuroBasket. He also served as assistant coach in the NBA with the Houston Rockets (2016/17) and the Brooklyn Nets during the 2017/2018 season, when Spencer Dinwiddie made his breakthrough.
As a player, the former point guard won the Israeli championship with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 1996, spending a total of six years in the country’s top league.
Bayern will fill the now vacant position left by Parker very soon. The 41-year-old joined Munich in the summer of 2024 and celebrated the German championship with the team in 2025. FCBB thanks TJ for his commitment and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.
