FCBB head coach, Dejan Radonjic: "After the game against Fenerbahce on Thursday it was a special game. Unfortunately we had problems with inured players again. Maodo is still sick, Booker is still missing, Leon will probably train again soon, Stefan with his muscle problems will have to wait and see. Jena played very well at the beginning, in the second quarter but in the second half we were strong on defense."
Jena head coach, Björn Harmsen: "Congratulations to Dejan on his victory and his birthday. My thanks also go to our fans, who now experienced the 100th away game in a row - that's very impressive. For the game against the Bavarians, we set ourselves the goal of coming out with a lot of energy and disturbing their rhythm due to their game on Thursday and we succeeded quite well in the first quarter. After that, the home advantage and the quality of the Bavarians prevailed. I wish the FCBB all the best for the BBL and the EuroLeague and that the team achieves its goals in both competitions".
1st quarter
Stefan Jovic, Nihad Djedovic, Vladimir Lucic, Danilo Barthel and Marvin Ogunsipe were the starters for the yet undefeated Munich squad. After the hard 50 minutes against Fenerbahce, the Munich team took it a little too easy to start but the guests didn't. The team from Jenens gave it their all and took the Bavarians by surprise with a 9-0 run, which Nihad Djedovic first managed to stop the bleeding with a three to make it 9-3 after three minutes of play. The Munich team had a hard time finding their rhythm and the visitors increased their lead over the heavy favorites 17-7. Derrick Williams helped the Bayern cause with two three-pointers in a row to get back to within four points with three minutes remaining in the quarter. The East Germans were also not particularly impressed by a more intense Bayern defense and led after the first quarter - 24-17.
2nd quarter
Bayern scraped together their energy reserves and crept back to within four at 29-25. A fadeaway jump-shot by Robin Amaize equalized the score at 29 and a bucket from FCBB captain Danilo Barthel at close range brought Bayern their first lead at 34-33. Threes from Nihad Djedovic and Nemanja Dangubic caused Jenas coach Björn Harmsen to take time-out but the interruption did not stop the German champions from going on a 11-0 run and taking a45-38 lead at the half.
3rd quarter
At first the Reds didn't succeed much offensively, but the defense went to work and prevented Jena from overtaking them. Munich's offensive then picked up speed again and a sweet dunk by Barthel and a Williams jump shot brought the hosts a 58-46 lead. Alex King helped maintain a two-digit lead with two free-throws and Derrick Williams' third trio and another one from Amaize brought the biggest lead of the night thus far and forced Jena to take a time-out with a Bayern lead of 67-53. King drilled a three after a beautiful assist from Hobbs and at the end of three the game had turned into a rout at 75-55 for the home team.
4th quarter
Braydon Hobbs sunk two straight threes, the second of which was from way behind the arc. Bayern showed an admirable attitude: Despite the clear lead Nihad Djedovic chased down a losse ball and scored to take a 88-58 lead with six minutes to play. The fans of Bayern had their fun and rewarded the strong performance of their team with voracious applause although the game had long been won. The guests from Jena didn't let their heads hang but Amaize sunk his third triple and Hobbs another for the three-digit lead of 101-69. The 18th victory in their 18th BBL game crowned a remarkably successful week for the FCBB.
