Quotes:
FCBB head coach, Dejan Radonjic: "We played today with enough focus and energy, and started well defensively. After our early lead we controlled the game. At the beginning of the third quarter they hit the first three throws and in this phase it was important to play a better defense again and also to recognize how to act against their zone defense. That's what we did, congratulations to my players."
Wuerzburg head coach, Denis Wucherer: "Congratulations on your well-deserved victory. In order to win against Bayern Munich, you have to play at your peak potential. We didn't manage that."
Robin Amaize: "We had problems at the start and ups and downs in the game again and again, but we managed it well. All in all we played well, after the last two road defeats we really wanted to win and that's what we did. The next two EuroLeague games will be hard for us, we don't have it in our hands anymore, but we want to at least win the last two games."
1st quarter
FCBB coach Radonjic started with Stefan Jovic, Petteri Koponen, Vladimir Lucic, Danilo Barthel and Leon Radosevic. Lucic was directly hot and scored his first three (3:0/1. minute). The first highlight was provided by Jovic, who assisted Barthel with a nice bounce pass, the captain didn't miss. Barthel also booked his 1,000th rebound in his BBL career. Lucic and Nihad Djedovic were hitting the shots for Munich and so by the middle of the 1st quarter there was already a clear 12-4 lead in favour of the defending champions. Jovic already managed four of his five assists at this point. Just before the first quarter break, Robin Amaize took the biggest FCBB lead of the night at the free-throw line, 21-11.
2nd quarter
Devin Booker grabbed the rebound after a mis and finished under the basket to extend the lead. Amaize, who played his best game in the FCBB jersey so far, was able to extend the lead from outside but afterwards the Bavarians let up a bit yet still managed to hold onto a ten point lead. Koponen hit the final shot of the half from very deep and the score at half was 42-31.
3rd quarter
After the break, Braydon Hobbs took the floor for the first time and immediately hit a shot to take a 12-point lead. In the middle of the quarter the hosts went on a 7-0 run and came to within four points at 51-47. The Bavarians then increased the intensity and finished the quarter with a 12-3 run and had a 13-point lead before the final quarter.
4th quarter
Maodo Lo opened the scoring with a three and put a damper on any hopes that the hosts may have had in winning this ballgame. Bayern managed to hold a comfortable lead for the rest of the final quarter and the final points of the game from Djedovic put a nice cherry on top of a complete game by the Munich squad.
