Bayern is dominated in Anadolu Efes in front of 14,900 fans

The Bayern basketball team lost their fifth road game in the EuroLeague to title favourite Anadolu Efes Istanbul. The German champions suffered the defeat in front of 14,900 spectators with a final score of 104-75 and now have a 4-7 record in the EuroLeague. Bayern who once again were missing Nihad Djedovic, lacked the antidote against the hosts and were outplayed from the start. They fought their way to within five points in the second quarter but the Turkish champions clearly won the rebound duel 34-21 and scored almost at will (73% two-point shooting. Shane Larkin especially was unstoppable in his record game (49 points, 10 threes). The second best scorer on the court was FCBB forward Vladimir Lucic with 20 points (7/9 FG). 

Bayern who is still undefeated in the BBL will next play a home game against Crailsheim on Sunday (December 1st, 19:00 CET) before the next tough road game versus Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday (December 5th, 20:05 CET).

1st quarter
Maodo Lo, Petteri Koponen, Vladimir Lucic, Danilo Barthel and Greg Monroe came onto the stage as starters. Larkin found his rhythm immediately and hit his first three followed by a bucket by German Center Tibor Pleiss. FCBB coach coach Radonjic also forced to take Lo out early but backup DeMarcus Nelson immediately contributed nine points. In spite of good offensive play, Bayern was doule-digits behind at the end of the first ten minutes due yet another Larkin three. While last year's finalist hit six of his nine threes in the first quarter, the German counterpart scored only one goal in four attempts from outside. The score was 30-22 in favore of Efes after the first quarter. 

2. quarter
Bayern was able to control the Turks a little better defensively and through an 8-0 run thanks to Paul Zipser, Lucic and Lo, they go to within five points, 35-30. The FCBB kept up well at times but Larkin could not be controlled at and again they fell behind by more than ten points. After the Munich team fought their way back to nine points, the home team took a clear 57-40 lead after an 8-0 run to end the first half.

3rd quarter
Another good start gave hope for a short time and a 10-2 run started the second half but again it was Larkin who answered and stopped the run of the guests. Lucic kept his team in the game but Efes again overran the Germans with a 10-2 run  to take a 76-58 lead heading into the final quarter.

4th quarter
The game was decided early as Larkin was still uncontrollable and set a new scoring record in the EuroLeague with 49 points. This was aided by the defense and numerous mistakes by the Munich squad. The former Boston Celtics Guard scored ten of his twelve attempts from downtown. The result was a clear 104-75 win for the home team.
