Quotes:
Andrea Trinchieri: "I think my team did what they needed to do. We distributed the minutes well, because now we have a lot of games close together. We had a professional approach, although it took a quarter of a second before we understood what we had to do. But after that we were efficient and were able to give our youngsters 35 minutes. Robin and Nick did an important job by taking a little more minutes and responsibility. We had no training, so my goal was to get D.J. Seeley into the game and into the system. He reacted very well offensively, maybe not so well on defense; but tomorrow he will try to do better as well".
D.J. Seeley: "I did not expect to play at all. But it has worked quite well without a single training session and I am happy about the trust of the coach. Now, of course, I still have to fit into the team chemistry. It will still take two or three weeks to get into the rhythm. But whatever the coach and the team need me for, I'm there".
Game recap:
Trinchieri started with Wade Baldwin, Nick Weiler-Babb, Robin Amaize, JaJuan Johnson and Leon Radosevic. The Munich team took it easy, allowing the guests to take the lead in the early stages (8-7/4th). Johnson knew how to put himself in the limelight both offensively and defensively - and scored a whopping nine points in the opening quarter. Seeley came early to his first minutes and took the lead with two successful free throws (13-8/6th). Goettingen could not be shaken off though and had some success with offensive rebounds. After the first quarter the score was even at 21-21.
The first made three was hit by Baldwin who then immediately contributed another one (29-26/13th). Munich defensively moved up a gear and, thanks also to the early five team fouls for Goettingen, scored primarily rom the free-throw line. Jalen Reynolds took a double-digit lead from the line (39-28/16th). The FCBB were starting to heat up and played well on defense and on the boards. Seeley scored a three to take a 46-33 lead (18th) and a 7-0 run brought a big lead to 48-33 at the break.
The Munich team made a spectacular start to the second half: Baldwin served Johnson with an extra pass who smashed home a monster dunk. Baldwin's third three extended the lead to over 20 points (55-33/22nd). The opponent countered again with an 8-0 run, which was only stopped by Leon Radosevic's free throws (62-45/28th). Coach Trinchieri gave Matej Rudan the opportunity to gain playing experience and he used the chance well with a nice tip-in, 69-50 (29th). The Munich team gained the highest lead of the game - 74-50.
The final quarter suffered a little in terms of being a clean game and Nelson Weidemann, the Bayern loander scored points at ease for Goettingen. Seeley then put his stamp on the offensive once again (83-62/36th). The fourth BBL victory was at no time in danger.
