Bayern defeats Napoli in the third-place-game 69-54

The Bayern basketball team took third place at the "City of Cagliari Tournament" in Sardinia: About 20 hours after the narrowly lost test game opener against the local representative Dinamo Sassari (86-85), the team of head coach Andrea Trinchieri defeated the Serie A club Napoli Basket without any problems 69-54. At this early stage of the preparation, Trinchieri again did not use his complete squad.

The top scorers this time were Hilliard and Jaramaz with eleven points each, while youngster Jason George (4/3 steals) again received plenty of playing time with more than 32 minutes. The Munich team will now train in Cagliari on Sunday and Monday morning before arriving in the evening for the traditional training camp in Bruneck at the foot of the Kronplatz. The third test against Italian second division side Verona follows on Tuesday (in Bolzan).

TO THE SCHEDULE

Starting Monday in Bruneck

Against Napoli, the slightly injured Djedovic, Walden and Weiler-Babb sat out in addition to the rehab participants Radosevic and Zipser, who did not travel with the team. The latest transfer Rubit will join the team in Bruneck.

Without Walden, Hilliard, Jaramaz and Obst took over the ball control in addition to Sisko and as a group only gave up 10 turnovers. After three minutes, the FCBB led 8-0, both teams could feel the intense strain of the previous evening (Naples lost to Baskonia 75-70).  Bayern approached halftime, into which Obst sent everyone with a nice buzzer-beater three-pointer.

69 seconds before the end of the third period, the lead had melted to 52-48, esepcially thanks to a weak percentage from beyond the arc (27%). But on defense Bayern played well and with a score of 67:54 (38th) the duel was decided early.
