Short Biography

Gordon Herbert, born 1959 in Penticton, Canada, is a Canadian-Finnish basketball coach and has been head coach of FC Bayern Basketball since 2024. As a player, he took part in the 1984 Olympic Games with Canada and finished fourth. He began his coaching career in Finland and later led the Skyliners Frankfurt to the German championship in 2004 and to victory in the FIBA Europe Cup in 2016. He was also an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA and won the French Cup with Pau-Orthez in 2007.

Herbert took over the German national team in 2021 and led them to European Championship bronze in 2022. In 2023, he celebrated German basketball's greatest success by winning the Basketball World Cup. He then led the German team to fourth place at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
