Youth Programs in Colombia

FC Bayern Youth Cup

The FC Bayern Youth Cup is the world's biggest and oldest international youth football tournament series carried out by a football club. In 2012 the tournament took place for the first time and has been conducted eight times since its start. The FC Bayern Youth Cup took place in South America again in 2018. After a team from Brazil had already participated in 2014, we were able to welcome Colombia to the FC Bayern Youth Cup in 2018, also thanks to the support of Dimayor.

150 players aged 14 to 16 took part in the National Final from 7th to 14th of April in Bogota. The final consisted of a one-week football camp with the coaches of Patriotas Boyacà. The former FC Bayern player, Adolfo Valencia, finally selected the top ten players for the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Final in Munich.

The Colombian selection experienced a breathtaking week with many highlights in Munich. The biggest surprise for the boys from Colombia was the "Meet and Greet" with the Colombian national hero James Rodríguez. James was also visibly happy about the visit from his home country. On Saturday, the youngsters visited the last Bundesliga home game in the Allianz Arena before they were allowed to enter the "sacred grass" the next day to determine the winner of the FC Bayern Youth Cup 2018. The team from Colombia faced the teams from China, USA, Singapore, Thailand, Nigeria, India, Poland and Germany and finished ninth.

In 2021, we are again looking forward to projects in Colombia. Information will follow shortly.
