FC Bayern beat Fenerbahce 6-1 on Tuesday evening, going through to the Audi Cup final. Renato Sanches opened the scoring midway through the first half, Leon Goretzka, sub Thomas Müller, Kingsley Coman and again Müller handing the Bavarians a more than comfortable lead before half-time. Müller rounded off his hat-trick before the hour mark, former Bundesliga pro Max Kruse netting a consolation goal for Fenerbahce.
The Bavarians started with Manuel Neuer in goal and Joshua Kimmich, Niklas Süle, Jérôme Boateng and David Alaba in a back four. Thiago filled the holding role behind Serge Gnabry, Sanches, Goretzka and Coman, with hitman Robert Lewandowski up front.
Plain sailing
The German record champions dominated proceedings from the off, although the first chance fell to Fenerbahce, with Kruse firing over the bar. Goretzka miscued a header before visiting netminder Harun Tekin proved equal to a Coman effort. Gnabry had to be replaced with a knock after 20 minutes, Müller taking over.
Lewandowski soon set up Sanches, who tapped home from close range to put Bayern ahead. Goretzka doubled the lead before Bayern capitalised on the Turkish side's increasingly sloppy defending, Müller and Coman twisting the knife. Lewandowski was upended in the box, Müller proving a cool customer from the penalty spot, and Bayern were five up at half-time.
Müller bags hat-trick
The Bavarians engaged cruise control after the restart, Alaba warming Tekin's gloves from a free-kick. Müller rounded off his hat-trick when he beat Tekin to the ball and found the net from 40 yards. Bayern boss Niko Kovac shuffled his deck on the hour mark, making five changes.
Kruse scored a consolation goal for the away side. Tekin soon beat Goretzka to the ball, but the last 30 minutes were a rather quiet affair, and match official Dr Felix Brych put Fenerbahce out of their misery.
The Bavarians will be back in action in the Audi Cup final tomorrow, when they face Tottenham, who beat Real Madrid 1-0 earlier on Tuesday.
