Bayern want to reach the halfway point in the Bundesliga season and set themselves up for a title race with three points at Niko Kovac’s former club. The Munich club haven't lost a Bundesliga game in Frankfurt for eight and a half years. fcbayern.com has some other interesting facts and figures ahead of Saturday’s match at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Bayern happy travellers
The record champions have felt at home on the road this season with 18 points from their eight away games. No team has won more than Kovac’s side on their travels in the Bundesliga. Bayern have won their last two league fixtures away from home with a 2-1 victory at Werder Bremen and 4-0 at Hannover. However, FCB haven't won three in a row on the road yet this Bundesliga campaign. Now would be a good time to do that!
The bogey team from Bavaria
Bayern have won 51 of the 94 Bundesliga matches against Eintracht (22 draws, 21 defeats). No team has beaten the Eagles more times in the German top flight or scored more goals against them (183) than FCB.
Two top strikers
Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic is currently enjoying the best campaign of his still young career with 12 goals in 14 Bundesliga appearances. The 21-year-old therefore already has four more than he managed in the whole of last season and leads the Bundesliga scoring chart alongside Dortmund’s Paco Alcacer. Robert Lewandowski, however, is just behind in third place on 10 goals. The last time he faced Eintracht in the 5-0 Supercup win he bagged a hat-trick, which is as many as Frankfurt as a team have managed in their last 12 Bundesliga matches against Bayern.
Eintracht’s impressive campaign
Frankfurt currently have 27 points to their name after 16 games and could record their best Hinrunde in six years with a win over Bayern. In 2012/13 they went into the winter break with 30 points under Armin Veh, and they finished that season in sixth place. Kovac and his men, however, will want to have a say in that matter on his return to his former club.
