FC Bayern ambassador Lothar Matthäus made several stops on his trip to China at the end of May. He started off by attending a product launch by Bayern's regional partner Viessmann in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China. Matthäus, who was captain of the Reds for many years, unveiled the product in the show and was available for questions from the guests as well as media interviews. Afterwards numerous fans had the opportunity to get up close and personal with Matthäus at a meet & greet session, where they were also able to ask questions and have a souvenir photo taken with him.

The following day, the 1990 world champion visited the Chinese metropolis of Taiyuan where, after Shenzhen and Qingdao, the third FC Bayern Football School is currently being built. After a short speech the Bayern legend took charge as coach before opening the subsequent school football tournament. Afterwards, the record Germany international was available for further interviews. Next, the former world footballer of the year went to a branch of the new Bayern regional partner Industrial Bank of China (CIB) in Taiyuan, where alongside Rouven Kasper (Managing Director of FC Bayern Munich in China) he exchanged Chinese gifts and diligently signed autographs for the delighted employees. The culmination of his trip was a fan event at the Paulaner Bräuhaus Taiyuan, where he joined the fans there in toasting the successful end to the season, including winning the double.

In Kansas City, fans had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Champions League and DFB Cup trophies, as well as the Meisterschale. Altogether more than 300 fans were present at the events and celebrated the wonderful end to the season.
