7 facts ahead of milestone clash with Schalke

FC Bayern and FC Schalke cross swords in the Bundesliga top clash on Matchday 19. fcbayern.com has compiled seven interesting facts in the build-up to Saturday evening's duel at the Allianz Arena.

1. Record favours Bayern

Bayern take on Schalke for the 100th time in the Bundesliga, and the record clearly favours the Bavarians. The German record champions have won 53 of the 99 previous encounters, drawing 28 and losing only 18. Schalke have lost more matches and conceded more goals (209) against Bayern than against any other club. FCB have only scored more Bundesliga goals against Werder Bremen (217).

2. Milestone beckons for Müller

Thomas Müller needs one more goal for a special number. If the native Bavarian finds the net against Schalke it would be his 100th competitive goal at the Allianz Arena. Only Robert Lewandowski boasts more. The Poland captain rounded off a century in the 3-1 home victory over Schalke in February 2019.

3. Lewandowski prolific against Schalke

Lewandowski has scored in all of his last eight Bundesliga matches against Schalke. Only Klaus Fischer, who scored in nine consecutive matches against VfB Stuttgart from 1969 to 1974, boasts a longer run against one club.

Robert Lewandowski downed Schalke almost single-handedly in the reverse fixture, scoring all three goals in Bayern's 3-0 victory.

4. Strong run against Schalke

The men from Munich have gone unbeaten in the last 18 Bundesliga matches against the Royal Blues, winning 15 and drawing three. Schalke's drought against Bayern is their longest one in the Bundesliga.

5. Unbeaten in the first home match of the year since 1997

Bayern have taken points in the first home match of the year in all of the last 23 years. The last defeat dates back to February 1996, a 4-1 reverse against Karlsruher SC. Bayern have won 19 and drawn four home matches since then.

FC Bayern won their first home match in 2019 when they downed VfB Stuttgart 4-1, and they aim to build on it on Saturday.👇

6. Schalke rejuvenated

The Royal Blues have taken 33 points in 18 matches, the same number as they managed in the whole of last season. The last time Schalke boasted more at this point was in 2011/12 (37 points).

7. FCB v S04 in esports

FC Bayern and Schalke not only cross swords on the pitch. The two sides' esports teams clash in the KONAMI eFootball.Pro League at 16.35 CET.
