Lewandowski is Poland's footballer of the year

Congratulations, Robert Lewandowski! The FC Bayern top goalscorer was chosen as the 2019 Polish footballer of the year on Sunday evening.  Lewandowski received the award for the eighth time from the prestigious football magazine "Piłka Nożna".

"Thank you to all the fans! This award is not just a confirmation that the work is paying off, but an additional motivation to work harder," celebrated the 31-year-old on his Instagram account.

It was undoubtedly an exceptional year for the FCB number nine. The striker scored a remarkable 48 goals in 48 competitive matches for the record champions. Last season he won the Bundesliga golden boot for the fourth time. He finished a strong eighth place in the vote for the Ballon d'Or.

This season Lewandowski has broken record after record. Among others the Pole (224 goals in 310 matches) has climbed into the top three in the all time Bundesliga top scorer list - only Klaus Fischer (268/535) und FCB legend Gerd Müller (365/427) are ahead of him. In the 3-1 win in Mainz last Saturday the Munich man scored his 150th Bundesliga goal for Bayern.
