7 facts about the derby clash with Augsburg

Expert knowledge: FCB against FCA - Sunday brings a local Bavarian derby between Munich and Augsburg at the Allianz Arena. Here are seven interesting facts and figures to prepare you for the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern and the Bavarian Swabians on Matchday 25.

1. FCB dominant in the derby

FC Bayern are unbeaten against FC Augsburg in nine Bundesliga games (seven wins, two draws). Overall, the men from Munich have won 76% (13 from 17) of the Bundesliga duels against FCA, whose record against Bayern is their worst against any team in the league.

In the first match between the sides this season, however, Augsburg managed to avoid defeat against Bayern at the death, with Alfred Finnbogason equalising in injury time to make the final score 2-2.

2. Bayern quick starters

In the return fixture, Bayern are looking to be quick off the blocks and have already scored nine goals in the opening 15 minutes of matches since the turn of the calendar year. No other team in the second half of the season has scored more than three goals during this same period of time in the Bundesliga.

3. Bayern's strong attack shows no sign of easing up

With last week's 6-0 win in Hoffenheim, Hansi Flick's team achieved the feat of becoming the first team in Bundesliga history to score at least three goals in five consecutive away matches (4-1 in Freiburg, 4-0 at Hertha BSC, 3-1 in Mainz and 4-1 in Cologne). FCB have already scored 71 goals this season, just behind the Bundesliga record for number of goals scored after 24 games. The Bayern side of 2013/14 hold the record, having scored 72 goals at the same stage that season.

4. Flick's team an unstoppable force

Bayern's unbeaten run in the Bundesliga is now into double figures. In the last ten Bundesliga games, Bayern have picked up 28 points from a possible 30 - only dropping points in the 0-0 draw against RB Leipzig on Matchday 21. In this period, Bayern have scored 36 goals and only conceded 6, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

5. Sunday successes

On Sundays this season, Bayern are undefeated, with Bayern winning five times and drawing twice in their last seven matches. The last time the team from Munich lost on a Sunday was a 2-1 reverse against RB Leipzig in March 2018 -  the only defeat FCB have suffered in their last 16 games on a Sunday (twelve wins, three draws).

For the fourth time this year, Bayern are to play on a Sunday: After a 4-0 win away at Hertha BSC and a 0-0 draw against Leipzig, the last game they played on this day of the week was a 4-1 win in Cologne.

6. Augsburg stumbling in the second half of the season

In the second half of the season, FCA are second last in the form table for 2020 with only four points, and Werder Bremen, the only side who have picked up fewer points than Augsburg (3), have played a game less. Never before in Bundesliga history have FCA collected so few points at the start of the second half of the season as they have done this season.

7. Augsburg weak away from home

Augsburg have lost all four of their most recent Bundesliga away games, failing to score in their last three. Another defeat away from home would threaten FCA's record for the most consecutive away losses (the last time they went through such a rough patch was from February to April 2015).
