Bayern meet Dortmund: two teams in top form

The spectacular 5-2 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt made one thing very clear: FC Bayern are in seriously good shape! And just at the right time too, because the top-of-the-table clash away at Borussia Dortmund will be played this Tuesday (you can follow the match with our live updates and free web radio from 18.30 CEST). So far, the team from Munich have been good value for their two wins in two since the Bundesliga restart after the break due to coronavirus. "We are in a position of strength. We want to maintain this good start," said Hansi Flick, looking ahead to the upcoming "Klassiker".

Bayern inspire with successful and attractive football

The coach can be satisfied with his team at the moment. The style he demands delivers not only successful football, but also attractive play. Against Eintracht, Bayern played to win from the very first minute, and the first two goals, courtesy of Leon Goretzka (17') and Thomas Müller (41') were the consequence of excellent football.

Any signs of a comeback quickly dispelled

Unstoppable: Bayern were unstoppable against Frankfurt even though the away side scored two goals in quick succession.

After Robert Lewandowski's goal to make it 3-0 immediately after the interval, Martin Hinteregger's quickfire brace (52' and 55') suddenly brought the visitors back into the match. But the record champions showed their strength and quickly extended their lead in the game with Alphonso Davies (64'), before an own goal by Hinteregger (74'). The reigning champions are undeterred by any setbacks.

BVB also in form

The three points were highly deserved and important, as Dortmund had earlier done their job in the title race with a 2-0 win in Wolfsburg. "We absolutely wanted to follow suit," Müller explained. Bayern now go into the top match on the back of six league wins in a row and a record goal haul of 80 goals in 27 games. Next, they'll meet opponents who will also come into the game with great confidence: BVB are also on a run of six successive victories.

Dortmund game hotly anticipated

"Games against BVB are always special. It's the meeting of two very good teams," Flick declared, not seeking to hide his excitement. "This is a very decisive week," Thomas Müller hastened to add, in view of the narrow four-point gap over Borussia, but then promised another spectacle: "We march on, Dortmund march on. You can look forward to Tuesday."

Thomas Müller has played a major part in the Bayern's strong form with his goals and assists - and has his sights set on a few records:
