Serge Gnabry will be celebrating his 25th birthday today in the best of moods. The FC Bayern striker is currently on holiday recovering from an exhausting last few weeks, in which he played a large part in winning two trophies this season. But in addition to the German championship and the DFB Cup, the Germany international can look back on what was, personally, a highly successful campaign.

Personal bests in the Bundesliga

At the end of a season made more difficult by the Coronavirus, Gnabry celebrated his second championship title.

In the Bundesliga, Gnabry ran up an impressive tally of  twelve goals and ten assists in 31 games - both of which were new personal bests. In the DFB Cup he scored twice in five games, first getting the crucial equaliser in the 2-1 win at Bochum in the second round, before bagging another to put the Reds 2-0 up in the 4-2 win in the final against Leverkusen.

On target in the Champions League

Hitting the ground running: Serge Gnabry scored four times in one half against Spurs. They were the first Champions League goals of his career

On top of that, the Champions League also threw up some magic moments. In the 7-2 away win at Tottenham Hotspur, he notched up four goals plus an assist to almost single-handedly demolish the North London team. Oddly, they were Gnabry's first-ever goals in Europe's premier competition. In the round of 16 first leg tie in London, he laid the foundations for a successful second leg against Chelsea with two goals in a 3-0 win.

Recharging the batteries for the third competition of the season

On holiday, the striker can now recharge his batteries for the upcoming crucial matches in the Champions League. Preparation for the restart of Europe's top competition starts for the Reds on 20 June. On 8 August, the men from Munich will then play Chelsea at the Allianz Arena in the second leg. They're intent on progressing to the quarter-finals, and a well-honed Gnabry could be worth his weight in gold in the match.

Last week the next steps in the Champions League were announced and the possible fixtures drawn. Click here for all the details:
