The reigning champions scored eight goals against the Royal Blues, the first team in Bundesliga history to do so on Matchday 1! The Bavarian side thus also celebrated their highest opening win in the Bundesliga, beating their own record of 6-0, set against Werder Bremen back in 2016.
2. Sané from 0 to 100
A competitive debut at FC Bayern could hardly go much better: Leroy Sané served up one goal and two assists on his debut for the German record champions - 'InSane stuff!'

3. Two firsts for Gnabry

4. Schalke beaten by Lewandowski again, who passes Rummenigge
Robert Lewandowski scored his 163rd Bundesliga goal for Bayern, overtaking Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. The Pole is now on his own as the second top goalscorer for the record champions, behind only Gerd Müller (365). The striker also managed to score against Schalke for the tenth Bundesliga match in a row! No one had ever managed that before against a club in the top tier of German football. Prior to Friday night, he shared the record with Klaus Fischer, who had scored nine times in a row against Stuttgart.
5. Musiala sets record
Jamal Musiala scored the final goal of the game to make it 8-0, making him FC Bayern's youngest Bundesliga goalscorer. At 17 years and 205 days, he succeeded Roque Santa Cruz, the previous record holder, who was 18 years and 12 days old when he scored his first goal for Bayern in the Bundesliga.
6. Goretzka flashback
Leon Goretzka scored for the first time on Matchday 1 in eight years. The last time he scored on the opening day of a campaign? It was his first goal in professional football, for VfL Bochum in a 2-1 win against Dynamo Dresden in Bundesliga 2.
7. Müller landmark goal
Thomas Müller scored the sixth goal against Schalke. It was his 200th competitive goal for FC Bayern (in his 536th game). Since Bayern's promotion to the Bundesliga in 1965, only three players have scored more times for the club: Gerd Müller (517), Lewandowski (247) and Rummenigge (217).
8. Bayern run keeps going!
The unbeaten run for Hansi Flick's side simply has no end! The treble-winners are not only undefeated in 31 competitive matches (30 wins, one draw), but are also unbeaten against Schalke in their last 22 competitive fixtures (19 wins, three draws). Of all the current Bundesliga clubs, Bayern have only remained unbeaten for longer against Bremen (27).
