Three dream goals from the first half of the season

The first half of the Bundesliga season is over, 17 games have been played and FC Bayern are at the top of the table. The men from Munich scored a staggering 49 goals in the first half of the campaign; the only time they exceeded that was in 1976/77, when they bagged a half-century. In addition, the defending champions are the only team to have netted in every game so far. fcbayern.com takes a look back at three real gems, and you can also enjoy every goal from the first half of the season in our video.

At the start of the season, Bayern lost no time in demonstrating how hungry they would be for goals by thrashing Schalke 04 8-0. Among the many terrific strikes, Thomas Müller's one to make it 6-0 particularly stood out. The build-up alone was enough to leave you gaping in wonder: Robert Lewandowski deftly delivered the ball into the centre with a Rabona cross, where Müller, without breaking stride, fired an unstoppable volley into the back of the net. It was evidence of the zest with which Bayern played on that day and what Lewandowski, in particular, still had planned for the season.

Lewandowski overcomes BVB with his head

The Best FIFA Men's Player scored an incredible 22 times in the first half of the season, including, of course, numerous dream goals. His header against Borussia Dortmund was quite remarkable. From an almost impossible angle, the Pole got on the end of Lucas Hernández's cross next to the far post and headed in for a 2-1 lead in his 300th competitive match for FCB. Even a header expert like Mats Hummels was powerless to do anything about it.

Sané does a Robben

The 5-0 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt brought back memories of a club legend for Bayern fans. In the 72nd minute, Leroy Sané made a run down the right flank before darting into the centre and releasing a thunderbolt which flew past the inside of the left-hand post perfectly, putting his team 4-0 up. The new FCB number 10 demonstrated Arjen Robben's signature move to perfection.

On Sunday, Bayern travel to Schalke 04 in the opening game of the second half of the season. Get yourself ready for the clash with our facts and stats:
